Susan M. T. Myster attended graduate school at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, where she specialized in Biological Anthropology, specifically in the areas of human osteology, forensic anthropology, and bioarchaeology. In 1997 she spearheaded the development of a certificate program in Forensic Science and has been the director of the program since its inception. Dr. Myster has been consulting as a Forensic Anthropologist in Minnesota and Wisconsin since 1991. Her work has involved the recovery and analysis of human remains from burned, buried, surface, and water contexts, as well as providing expert testimony. She has been involved in several high profile cases in Minnesota during which she worked closely with various law enforcement, medicolegal, and forensic science agencies.
She is a member of the American Academy of Forensic Sciences and the Minnesota Chapter of the International Association of Identification. She has published several articles/chapters and presented numerous papers at professional meetings.
She is qualified to conduct and participate in the recovery of human remains, as well as perform extensive osteological analysis. Dr. Myster's forensic anthropological expertise focuses on the area of personal identification and interpretation of traumatic injury. Susan Myster also has experience evaluating incinerated bone. Her extensive osteological and forensic experience also qualifies her to evaluate the application of analytical techniques, interpretations, and conclusions reached by other forensic anthropological consultants. Dr. Myster has testified as an expert witness in numerous cases and will provide such testimony when requested.
